Is your baby growing as expected? How much does your baby weigh? At Be My Guest (BMG) Medical Clinic, our female OB/GYN provides fetal growth ultrasound examinations to estimate your baby’s size and weight, compare measurements with expected growth for gestational age, and help identify babies who may be smaller or larger than expected.

What Does a Fetal Growth Ultrasound Assess?

Your OB/GYN uses ultrasound measurements to assess your baby’s growth and development, including:

• Measurements of your baby’s head, abdomen and thigh bone
• Estimated fetal weight (EFW)
• Growth compared with expected measurements for gestational age
• Amniotic fluid levels and placental location, when appropriate
• Your baby’s position, when appropriate

Important: This is a routine fetal growth ultrasound, not a detailed fetal anatomy or anomaly scan or a specialist Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) assessment. If additional evaluation is needed, your OB/GYN may recommend further testing or referral to an MFM specialist.
